Safaris for

Several generations

Grandparents, parents and children, all actually enjoying it.

The hard part is pace: what a nine-year-old wants from a morning and what a seventy-year-old wants are rarely the same. Private vehicles and camps with space to separate solve most of it.

How we plan it

What makes or breaks this kind of trip.

  1. 01

Build the day around the slowest

Not the youngest and not the oldest — whoever tires first. If the day works for them it works for everyone, and nobody has to say so out loud.

  2. 02

    Rooms reached on the flat

Some of the loveliest camps put their best tents up a steep flight of steps. We will tell you which, because it is the sort of thing nobody thinks to ask.

  3. 03

Fly, and keep the flights short

A long road transfer is hard on grandparents and worse on toddlers. Light aircraft is the single best thing you can spend money on here.

  4. 04

    A shared space at camp

A family tent or a small camp taken whole, so the party can be together without being confined to a table at dinner.

Safaris we would suggest

Every safari is shaped around the people travelling. These are the ones we start from.
