The outline of Kilimanjaro against a pink dawn sky
Destination

Amboseli

Elephants beneath Kilimanjaro.

Elephants, and a mountain that comes and goes

Amboseli has the largest tuskers left in Kenya and they are entirely used to vehicles, which means elephant sightings here are closer and calmer than almost anywhere.

Kilimanjaro is cloud-covered for most of the day. Plan on dawn and dusk, and treat anything else as luck.

Safaris that go here

When should I come?

The best months are shown on every destination card. In broad terms the dry seasons — January to February and June to October — are easiest, but the green season has fewer people, lower rates and better light.

How long do I need here?

Three nights is the minimum worth doing. Two nights means one full day, and travel days on either side.

Can I combine it with somewhere else?

Almost always. Tell us your dates and we will propose the pairing that works for that time of year.
