The difference is not the camera. It is having a vehicle to yourself, a guide who reads light, and nobody asking to move on after ten minutes.

How we plan it
What makes or breaks this kind of trip.
- 01
Built around light, not meals
Out before dawn, back after dusk, with the middle of the day for sleeping and backing up. Camps that will feed you at odd hours are the ones worth booking.
- 02
A private vehicle, always
Beanbag rails, no shared seats, and the freedom to stay with one animal for an hour because the background is not right yet.
- 03
A guide who understands the ask
They position for the sun rather than the animal, and they will reverse without being asked. This is the single biggest difference between a good trip and a frustrating one.
- 04
Conservancies over reserves
Off-road driving where it makes sense, and night drives. Neither is permitted in the main reserve, and both are where the pictures are.
