Into Northern Kenya
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi as you travel north toward the spectacular landscapes of Samburu National Reserve.
Cross the Equator and watch the scenery change from the lush central highlands to the rugged semi-arid wilderness of northern Kenya.
Arrive at your safari lodge in time for lunch.
Later enjoy your first Samburu game drive along the Ewaso Ng'iro River.
This river is the lifeline of the region and attracts elephants giraffes buffaloes crocodiles and many other species.
Keep your camera ready for some of northern Kenya's most distinctive wildlife.

Today is dedicated to exploring the spectacular wilderness of Samburu.
Enjoy an early morning game drive when wildlife activity is at its peak.
Samburu is particularly famous for the Samburu Special Five:
Grevy's zebra Reticulated giraffe Gerenuk Beisa oryx Somali ostrich
These distinctive northern species give Samburu a completely different safari experience from the Maasai Mara and Amboseli.
You may also encounter elephants lions leopards buffaloes cheetahs and numerous bird species.

DAY 3: SAMBURU TO OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY
From Northern Wilderness to Conservation Country
After breakfast enjoy a final morning game drive before departing for Ol Pejeta Conservancy in the Laikipia region.
Ol Pejeta is one of Kenya's most important wildlife conservation areas and offers exceptional wildlife viewing.
After lunch explore the conservancy on an afternoon game drive.
Search for lions leopards elephants buffaloes cheetahs and large populations of rhino.
Ol Pejeta is particularly renowned for rhino conservation. It is home to the world's last two northern white rhinos and has one of the largest black rhino populations in the region.
You can also visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

DAY 4: OL PEJETA TO LAKE NAKURU

Wake early for a final game drive through Ol Pejeta.

After breakfast depart toward Lake Nakuru National Park.
The journey takes you through the Great Rift Valley.
After lunch enjoy an afternoon game drive around Lake Nakuru.
Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya's best destinations for rhino viewing and offers opportunities to see buffaloes lions leopards giraffes zebras and many bird species.

Return to your lodge as the sun sets across the Mara plains.

With a picnic lunch packed you can explore deeper into the reserve and spend more time following wildlife.
Your experienced safari guide will search for lions leopards cheetahs elephants buffaloes and other wildlife.
The Mara is also one of the world's most famous destinations for the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Between approximately July and October the plains can become filled with wildebeest and zebra as they move through the Mara ecosystem.

A Second Day in the African Wilderness
Today gives you another full day to explore the Maasai Mara.
This extra safari day allows your guide to take you into different areas of the reserve and search for species you may not have encountered the previous day.
Follow predator tracks across the savannah.
Watch elephants moving through the grasslands.
Search for elusive leopards.
Photograph cheetahs scanning the plains.
Optional experiences include a Maasai cultural visit or a hot air balloon safari over the Maasai Mara followed by a bush breakfast.

DAY 9: MAASAI MARA TO AMBOSELI
From the Mara Plains to Mount Kilimanjaro
After an early breakfast depart the Maasai Mara for Amboseli National Park.
This is the longest transfer of the safari but also an opportunity to experience Kenya's changing landscapes.
Arrive in Amboseli later in the day.
Depending on arrival time enjoy an afternoon or evening game drive.
Amboseli is famous for its enormous elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Wake early for your final Amboseli game drive.

Return for breakfast before beginning your journey back to Nairobi.
Depending on your flight schedule we will transfer you directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
